Biodiversity Surveys or Biodiversity Scoping Surveys are useful tools for obtaining baseline data on which plants and animals are present on your site and may help to achieve the Biodiversity Benchmark award.

These Biodiversity Surveys may also be useful to find out which (if any) ecology issues such as protected, BAP or rare species are present on land set aside for future development and any planning or wildlife related legal ramifications to be aware of for the future.

Management plans may be required for planning to ensure that the ecological value of a site is not lost, or can be useful to add value to a site and enhance the potential of a site to support wildlife.
